Possible Conspiracy Deck...

For a while I have been nagging Conspiracy Boutique about letting Speak Easy do a deck design/illustration for them. Usually, it ends with them just telling me to shut up and make it already so I did just that. I was feeling a bit delusional and considering the lack of sleep I have had lately, I feel that I can particularly connect to this illustration. I had a lot of fun drawing this dude out and laying in the colors, hopefully you will see it in print down the road!

Other misc. and things to look out for...

Soon.......very soon. I am very proud to say that the two releases that my friends and I have been working so hard on are finally coming to a wrap. Life After Death's Scum of Society Forever and of course, Close Only Counts' DO BAD THINGS. I will keep everybody posted on when these will be hitting the streets but make sure you have money in your pockets for these ones because they feature the some of the best talent in this city. Both of these albums were completely done DIY with minimal funds and extremely patient people. I am proud to have Speak Easy Media play a big role in creating these monstrous releases and I cannot wait to see them in person. I have had such a blast creating the artwork, layout, and taking the photography that I feel extremely confident in these albums.

Other news....
As always, I am updating my portfolio constantly for this senior year and thought I would just give you guys a little sneak-a-boo...

Plus more paintings on the way soon...

Saint Francis' Associates Degree Posters

Recently, we were asked to come up with two poster designs for the new Associates Degree program in Music Technology and Communication Arts and Graphic Design at Saint Francis. These posters were going to be sent out by the school to all of the high schools in the surrounding Fort Wayne area to let potential students know that they can now graduate in two years with an Associates in either of the two fields. I knew I wanted to design something that really appealed to a high school student so I had a lot of fun coming up with these layouts. I am extremely grateful that my poster designs were chosen to be printed so if you are a high school student roaming the lonely hallways, keep your eyes peeled for these bad boys!

Each poster folds out to 18"x24"

October/November Updates (Shitlist)

I haven't had the time in the past couple weeks to update this place due to a busy schedule and the harsh realities of life. However, I just wanted to let everybody know that I am still on the grind! So just because you aren't seeing new pieces everyday, doesn't mean I'm not working on anything. September and October were extremely hectic months with a bunch of new projects to work on and much more school work. I will start off this update by saying if you haven't gotten your copy of Shitlist's Self-Titled cassette release that my dudes at Blackheart Mountain Collective put out, then you are definitely missing out. Nothing is better than some good, hearty, wholesome, and pissed off grind. All of these guys are my good friends as well, so doing the illustration and layout for this release was an honor. There is another page on the back of the cover but you'll have to buy the tape to peep it!

DO BAD THINGS

I just finished the album art and release flyer for Close Only Counts' full length release DO BAD THINGS. Everybody needs to get ready for this. The recordings are sounding so good so far and everybody is working their asses off on all aspects of the album. I am especially stoked that Speak Easy Media is playing a huge role in this release in every department. I've had a lot of fun taking the photography for this album, editing it, and putting it all together. The final outcome should be awesome and I hope the rest of you guys enjoy it.

Here is a peek of the cover as well as the release flyer (feel free to post the flyer up anywhere):

Life After Death "Scum of Society Forever"

I am so fucking pumped to announce that I have been asked to do the art and layout for Life After Death's new full length release, "Scum of Society Forever." The album is going to be released on Filled With Hate Records out of Arnsberg, Germany. FWH is home to some really sick bands like CDC, Folsom, and Suffer the Living. My best friend and co-worker Matt Riefler is recording and producing the entire album as well, so I am especially excited that Speak Easy has a big role in this release. I will give you guys a couple sneak peaks on the cover and logo. I had so much fun throwing together designs and running around town taking gnarly photos of busted down houses for the layout. "Scum of Society Forever" is about to be hard as fuck!

Speak Easy Media.

Over the past year or two, myself and four of my good friends have been plotting and putting together ideas for a company that would benefit a client in so many different areas of art and design. I have always enjoyed working alongside my friends with many of the same clients and we have always seen eye to eye on everything. I thought to myself, why cant I continue to produce good work with these guys forever? Eric Pennycoff, Matt Riefler, Eric Romary, and Corey Purvis are some of my closest dudes and I am glad to finally call these guys my co-workers.

Speak Easy is:
Tanner Wilson (art/design)
Corey Purvis (art/design)
Eric Pennycoff (film, editor)
Matt Riefler (recording engineer)
Eric Romary (recording engineer)

This agency will be like a one-stop-shop for companies looking for work. Instead of looking around the market for artists, musicians, and/or filmmakers, Speak Easy will have everything within one name. From now on, we will all be stamping Speak Easy on every single piece of work we produce. I will keep everybody updated on upcoming projects, website, merchandise, and work!

Eric Romary Business Card

Recently, my good friend Eric Romary asked me to do a business card layout for him and I was more than down. He's an amazing recording engineer/producer and I've known him for a long time. I am very pleased with the outcome...

Photos from the DDT Opening

The opening was absolutely amazing!!! Holy shit! All of the art looked great on the walls and I was surrounded by my friends and family all night. There was great music in the air, the weather was great, and the beers were cold. I really couldn't imagine it getting any better than that. I want to personally thank Conspiracy for letting us ruin their walls for 4 weeks. Jake, Jes, and Damien are the best dudes in the world and the show is going to be up for another 2-3 weeks so get down there and see some work! We also ended up selling a ton of more work than I expected and that is definitely a plus!

Here are a handful of the photos from the opening night. Courtesy of Bambi Guthrie. Bambi is an awesome photographer and I want to thank her for taking the time to shoot and edit these photos.

DDT: TERRITORIAL MARKINGS

If you don't know, NOW YOU KNOW!
This Friday, July 29th Daniel Dienelt, Dusty Neal, and I will be putting on an exhibition of all the collaboration pieces we have been working on in the last 5 months. There are soooo many pieces and I am beyond stoked to see the outcome. The show will be hosted by our good friends at Conspiracy in their shop. This is by far one of the most challenging/rewarding projects I have ever worked on and I know I can say the same for Daniel and Dusty. We have been slaving over this show making panels, mixing paint, cutting ourselves, ruining clothes, making flyers, making pamphlets, destroying shit, sanding shit, spraying shit, etc. You name it, we have done it to one of the pieces. Some range from the size of a cheese slice to the size of a double door. I have no clue how we are going to hang everything on Thursday, but it is going to be done!

I want to thank everyone that is close to me for putting up with my crankiness and nervous attitude over the last couple months. Big thanks to my main man Eric Pennycoff for providing footage (he is shooting the opening as well), Katie Moore, my parents, my two brothers Jake and Wyatt, Jake and Jess Farris, Damien Imel, Grey Gordon, Josh Hire, Chris Zoot, Corey Purvis, Matt Riefler, of course Dusty and Daniel, and anybody else who has helped me out in anyway. I am sorry if I have forgotten anybody.

Art Swap with Rebecca Stockert!

Every once in awhile an awesome local artist comes around with work that I really need to obtain. I had a printmaking class with Rebecca Stockert last semester and I got to witness her making her work first hand. Her work consists of picture-perfect oil paintings, gritty etchings and lithographs, along with a great sculptor's eye. If you haven't checked out any of Beckie's work, you can peep it here:

Recently, I traded one of my paintings from the 2011 Student Show "Red Eye" for her four amazing screen-printed set "Hannibal Lector Porn Theatre" which won her some $$$ from Artlink during the National Print Exhibition. She was kind enough to send me photos of what my piece looked like in her house so I figured I would return the favor!

Commissioned Painting

For the past couple months I have been slowly working on a painting for an old friend from high school. John Benson is a West Point graduate and is currently a platoon leader for the United States Army out of Steilacoom, Washington. John got a hold of me a couple months ago to arrange a commissioned painting with a certain theme attached to it. The painting is about a cleansing and a redemption of humanity through complete eradication. The figure looms over a world that has been raped and drained of all it's beauty and the result will be a clean slate. I was so excited to hear that he wanted a painting with this kind of content and even more pumped to be doing a piece for someone that wanted my style. It is always a breath of fresh air when somebody doesn't tell you what they want you to paint or how they want it to look. John just came to me with the theme and basically said, "go nuts!" He's the man.

Sweet Tooth: Satisfy Your Cravings

I was recently asked by my friend Bambi Guthrie to put a piece into her exhibition last Saturday (6/4) inspired by Sweet Tooth Collective. Sweet Tooth is an awesome group of artists (Shaun Malinowski, Bob Storey, and Ricky Racket) dedicated to producing screen prints, clothing, designs, and much more. It is always so awesome to see local collectives like this rise up and gain popularity really quickly...besides, their whole product line is so fucking awesome! These are some really creative guys and I am so pumped to have been asked to be part of the show.

The theme of the show: Sweet Tooth

Title: Teething

The medium: Aerosol and Marker on Bristol
